Clown Infestation is a horror novella about killer clowns, but not just normal human clowns. It’s gory, original, imaginative and darkly funny with a great female character who steps into her own power.
It consists of 88 pages.
Plot
Lisa and Dan live in the suburbs. Dan is always busy with work and Lisa is mostly left by herself. He also leaves her alone when at night she hears footsteps in the house. Dan says it’s probably just clowns, nothing to worry about. They are harmless creatures. The next day she finds confetti in the vanity drawer which is gross and a little disconcerting. She asks Dan for a life trap, but he just wants to poison them. Still he reluctantly agrees with a life trap.
However when the trap shuts, there’s nothing inside. But something from under the couch grabs Lisa’s ankle. It’s a clown’s hand. She has heard of feral clowns and calls animal control, but they are very busy. She is left on her own again. She is also right.
When Dan gets taken by force by a clown that invades their house, outside sirens go off and all hell seems to have broken out. However she is determined to get him back. Together with Doberman Toby, her neighbor’s dog, she descends into to the lair of these killer clowns and makes a horrifying discovery.

Short Review
It’s a very original and darkly funny story that starts right away with a new normal where clowns are a different species. Not humans dressed as clowns, but actual animalistic creatures that live in the woods and are treated like pests. They mostly are harmless, until… As reader you are thrown right in this new universe without any explanation, and that already sets a funny tone. Add to that the confetti that is a sort of excrement and you get a very creative tale about creepy clowns.
Lisa seems like a very subdued woman who every time Dan gets angry with her, she thinks it must be her own fault. It’s very sad to read how she is treated and Dan is an absolute jerk, nicely said. Her nextdoor neighbor Carl, isn’t that great either, but at least he has a vey nice dog, Toby who is fond of Lisa and vice versa. When Lisa gets a hold of herself and decides to rescue Dan, against all reason and he totally doesn’t deserve it, she finds her power. She proves to be strong, smart, resilient and brave. With Toby by her side they are a great team that is loyal to each other and fights for each other. Nothing Dan can be accused of.
The clowns are imaginative and look like human clowns at first glance, but they have claws and they don’t look quite right either. There are other monstrous beings too, that resemble spider like creatures, but scarier and far more dangerous and deadly. They and the clowns cause a lot of mayhem, in multiple gruesome scenes that are described vividly. While their actions are horrible and horrifying, their lair and what hides inside it is even more terrifying and gruesome.
All this gore and mayhem is mixed with dark humor and a strong powerful character, which results in a very entertaining killer adventure. While the author didn’t have a conclusive ending on purpose, this isn’t about conquering and defeating the clowns, but rather a bad marriage, a bad dog owner and girl power. Lisa and Toby were both trapped in a toxic relationship and now they fight to be free and choose their own path with the ones they love.
Does the dog die?
While Toby does get hurt, he doesn’t die and Lisa takes him with her on their journey to freedom.
