The second season of One Piece continues the epic adventure of the five friends as they discover new islands, new friends and new enemies with an even greater rollercoaster of emotions, colorful characters and a wonderful creative world. Plot
Luffy and the Straw Hats are going on a new adventure. Now that they have successfully freed Nami’s people and helped her defeat Arlong, they can set course to their ultimate goal, finding the One Piece. They set sail to the Red Line and the Grand Line.
While Garp has accepted Luffy’s decision to become a Pirate and sees that he is a good person, he stops his pursuit. Now another Marine, Captain Smoker who also has a Devil Fruit power by turning himself into smoke and his second-in-command Tahiti who is a great sword fighter, are going after them. And they are not the only ones. A mysterious and evil syndicate called Baroque Works with its agents who all ate Devil Fruit are after the Straw Hats.
When they are in Loguetown to get some supplies they encounter old enemies, new adversaries and also a new ally who remains a mystery for the moment. Luffy and his crew have already had many adventures, but now they set into the Grand Line, a world unknown to them. Everything is foreign and everything works differently. This world is more treacherous and dangerous.
First Luffy’s crew ends up in a whale. Where they meet princess Vivi. Her kingdom is in danger and of course Luffy offers to help her. Before they arrive there, they come to an island called Little Garden where two giants live who battle each other, but are friendly. There they encounter Baroque Works.
After that Nami gets sick and they sail towards Drum Island where they have the best doctors. When they get there the doctors are all gone but one who lives on a mountain and who can cure Nami. The story of Drum Island is a very beautiful and heartbreaking and heartwarming story at the same time.
They meet Dr Kureha and a very special doctor in training. A little cute reindeer who once ate a Devil Fruit and became something else, a mix between a reindeer and a human. His name is Tony Tony Chopper. They help the people of Drum Island whose king has abandoned them and has taken all the doctors while the king is seduced by Baroque Works and shows up as the big villain they have to defeat this season. The mystery about Baroque Works and its boss Mr. Crocodile still remains.

Short Review
Now that the crew is set towards their goal, they are in a new world with new adventures, new towns, new islands and a new villainous syndicate called Baroque Works. They work wth agents called Mr. 3 working with Miss Goldenweek, Mr. 5, Mr. 9, Miss Valentine and Miss Monday. They all have special Devil Fruit powers which are very original and imaginative and sometimes even very gross.
These different special powers force the Straw Hats to be smart, to come up with new plans, fighting tactics and clever thinking. That keeps it also very interesting and prevents Luffy from doing his little rubber trick every time the same way. It doesn’t always work. What does work is when they all work together. That’s the key to defeating the villains however strong they might be.
While they spend time in a whale, on a island with misleading residents, and in Little Garden, the bigger part is set on Drum Island. It’s connected to Vivi’s past and to the present what is threatening her kingdom. There’s especially a lot of focus on the history of Drum island and especially for Tony Tony Chopper and his bond with Dr. Hiriluk and now Dr Kureha.
Tony Tony Chopper’s story with his best friend Doctor Hiriluk gets special attention and makes this series even more amazing. Tony becomes a real person, with a big heart. The story of their friendship is amazing and brought tears to my eyes. It’s heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. It shows what people can do, what wonderful things out of love and the kindness of their hearts. It’s truly an extraordinary series that is capable of making you laugh, cry, be filled with amazement and offers you all kinds of different emotions. This is what epic truly means.
This second season has a lot to offer. It still has an amazing set design, costumes and world design. The characters get fleshed out even more and the new villains are even more dangerous and original. While they look cartoonish they are deadly and give off a fantastical vibe that is so original. I really enjoyed it. The stories of Drum Island and Tony add even more substance to the story and it feels that it is only just beginning.
One Piece is an epic series that keeps the quality immensely high. It’s a truly authentic, unique and outer-worldly story with many emotions that take you on a rollercoaster ride.
