The Perfection is a film you must watch with as little information beforehand if possible. So this review has no spoilers, for I absolutely don’t want to ruin the big surprise and twist for you which makes this film a brilliant watch.

It’s a totally original and fresh film although it has some very gory scenes, you must be prepared for. It’s twisted, bizarre, full of campy nods, dark humor, gore, craziness, sexiness, great characters and a smart and witty plot with an underlying heavy theme.

If you want to be surprised by a film, then this is an absolute must-see.

The Perfection is directed and written by Richard Shepard and cowritten by Eric C. Charmelo and Nicole Snyder. It stars Allison Williams, Logan Browning, Steven Weber.

Short Review

In The Perfection nothing is what it seems. It starts out as a road trip but soon turns into something much more. It’s a drama, a mystery, a horror and a comedy all wrapped up in a bizarre twisted story.

The film makes excellent use of flashbacks and high speed rewinds to tell the real story, what’s lying underneath all the crazy stuff that is happening. But each time you think you know what’s going on, then there’s a new twist around the corner waiting to baffle you.

There are some pretty gory scenes, with vomit and maggots, chopping off limbs etcetera, so be prepared for that. But the focus lies with the mystery and the very well-crafted story that is brilliantly put together, like a twisted and smart puzzle.

It’s about forceful women, girl-power, and abuse, that is handled with care and also with great campiness, which only adds strength to both women. They are portrayed in an amazing way, to bring the characters to life and elevate them above victims. They are fleshed out throughout the plot and while the mystery unravels, combining character development, heavy themes and a greatly crafted plot.

The cinematography, the editing, the music, it’s all part of the mystery and greatness of the film. It’s visually and auditory beautiful. It’s a simple but intelligent storyline with a small cast and with great focus to tell an enthralling and compelling story with a message. Resulting in a big amazing awesome over the top finale.

My favorite part

It’s a very disturbing film in many ways, psychologically, physically, but also visually. It plays great mind tricks that work really well to craft the film together and tell a powerful story.

The end, which I won’t spoil is brilliant. If you like over the top campy gore and gruesome revenge then you’re in for a treat. It’s excellently executed, it’s powerful, hilariously sinister and very satisfying.
